Position Paper 3- Forecasting the Future

Many of us love to play video games, its a hobby world wide shared by millions also shared by many of us is the dislike of being outside because compared to video games the graphics are terrible, the plot is not that great, there's no character customization, and leveling up is expensive! Jokes aside many of us would love to fully experience the world of our video games, many of us would love to stand next to our favorite characters and fight the forces of evil all before mom makes us get off our butts and go to Uncle Tim's birthday party, but unfortunately we are stuck using just our controllers and imagination. What if that were not the case though, what if we could dive into our favorite games and truly be in that world such as the world of Ready Player One or the world of Sword Art Online these are fully realized worlds in which we wish we could be but unfortunately we lack the biological understanding( Sword Art's full dive system leaves the body immobilized while the nervous system and the brain think you are in the game world) or the technology(Ready Player One's system uses mixed reality but far beyond our current limits). We are however getting closer to these goals, in small ways, but indeed ever closer. With the advent of VR gaming we are slightly immersing ourselves in some of our favorite and some new worlds but not fully in the way we want to be because we still fall pray to our own... lets say vulnerabilities. We do have some interesting advancements in 4th dimension gaming like this which gives a sense of immersion or this which gives a sense of the entire world we may or may not see within our own 3D world( using that dang old fancy math and science and what not). Now with services like The Void we are able to get a taste of what this new world of gaming could be. The true differentiation of 4D and full immersion will hopefully be addressed for us gamers and i cant wait to see that day.
