Cyber Security! Sure it sounds like something scary and truly it is but that is something we should all worry about here and now. As the web of interconnected things grows so does our ability to be "hacked", and no i don't mean you left your phone at work and your friendly coworker posted something silly, i mean people digitally breaking into your device and obtaining you info. Almost everyone from grandmas to my five year old are using some sort of device that connects us to the internet in some way, and for many people this is video gaming. Video gaming is a hobby shared by millions across the globe, or flat plane if you believe that sort of stuff, it connects gamers from San Francisco to Tokyo to Paris and even to a small village in Zimbabwe. Here in lies the danger, anyone of these people you are playing with can be a hacker! Not to be alarmist here but generally online game hacking is nothing more than people finding a way to cheat in the game and synthetically feel like a better gamer, talk about artificial intelligence, but there are those who take it too far. Lets go back a few years and talk about the infamous Lizard Squad and how a bunch of kids brought down
Playstation's online
servers. Its here that we see the people who want to just be mean and shut down everyone's holiday fun and decided "hmm lets take down all the gaming systems this christmas while everyone tries to play their new games......because we can" and it lead to a lot of people blaming Sony and Microsoft for their inability to prevent this. Now to play devil's advocate here just a little, Sony and Microsoft should have had a little backup plan for emergencies of this nature, but what the general populace doesn't understand is that for a lot of cases this is still uncharted waters and we are only equipped with a spoon and a deflated party balloon when it comes to all the ways hackers can get in with the right know-how. Now going back to what i previously said most of the time hackers are just doing simple lazy things like
this, this guy is just using whats called an Aim-Bot it auto tracks and in some cases shoots for you in the gaming perfectly getting the hardest hits, best shots and sometimes even letting the bullets go through walls and other environmental obstacles. Many gaming companies have services in place to prevent and permanently ban those who cheat in their games and as we learn more and more about ways these people can get through those walls we have in place, be prepared to play against these cheaters who are just so terrible at these games they have to cheat. like this
